Welcome to my blog!

Hello everyone!

So I've arrived in Fort Myers, Florida, to begin my work as an acting intern at the Florida Repertory Theatre.  This past Saturday, John and I started our drive to DC where I put my car on the auto-train.  (THAT was a thing, but I'll get to that later.)  I felt bad that John had to deal with my outrageous emotional outbursts and fits of sobs, but he took it like a champ.  I was glad to have him there with me, though he was certainly the hardest person to say goodbye to.

So... the train.  So many people said, "Julianne, the train will be so fun and relaxing and picturesque."  These people lied!  The train wasn't horrible, but it was certainly cold, extremely bumpy, and loud. (I sat by the doors that lead between cars... lots of slamming.)  At dinner I sat with two ladies who were on their way to Ft. Myers from Staten Island.  They were thrilled to hear that I knew things about Staten Island after our trip there this summer.

After arriving in Stanford, FL, and driving to Fort Myers, I moved into my apartment, took a shower, and promptly started to cry.  I really miss Pittsburgh.  And that's all I've got to say about that.

I started work today, reading sides for the young audience plays that we are doing:  Thomas Edison: Fire of Genius and The Imaginators.  We start rehearsals for that tomorrow and after that, it's busytown until I leave in June.

I get along best with a lot of the staff.  I live with the Development Associate and have met some carpenters and managers that are quite nice and have great senses of humor.  Hopefully I will continue to see and hang out with them.  The rest of the theatre staff and directors get in next week, so I will have a better idea of the company dynamic then.

Until then, texts are more than welcome.  I'm not sure I could get enough Pittsburgh down here.  I'll blog tomorrow about Florida in general.  It's certainly a place.

  2. I wish I could fill this white box with physical love. Unfortunately, you'll only get a bad case of the hyperboles from this. Just remember, don't scratch. It'll scar... wait, what? Oh yeah - I LOVE YOU and know you'll be so happy there when it is 10 degrees here.

  3. Wow! We are so happy that you started this blog for us to follow Jules. Now we have something better to do than fall asleep after work. Seriously though, I had forgotten how much I enjoy your writing. It's almost as good as hearing your voice. I can tell how much you miss everyone but please give the new interns a chance, they might surprise you, well not Malibu Barbie, but maybe the others will have some redeeming quality to be found.
Thanks Babe, this might be almost as much fun as I here Facebook is! The Pirate game just started, I can't seem to give up on them as much as I try. Love forever, Mom
P.S. Can you hear Molly snoring all the way in Florida?
